What can a handsaw be used for?

Various types of woodworking handsaws

1. Narrow handsaw: The saw blade is narrow and long, with a pointed tip, approximately 300mm-400mm in length. Narrow handsaws are used for sawing narrow holes and grooves.

2. Panel saw: Also called a hand saw. It consists of a saw blade and a handle. The saw blade is approximately 250mm-750mm long, with a tooth pitch of 3mm-4mm. Panel saws are used for sawing wider boards.

3. Wire saw: Also called a bow saw. It is made by bending bamboo strips into an arc shape and stretching steel wire at both ends. Serrated edges are cut into the wire, and the sharp edges are used for sawing. The wire is 200mm-600mm long, and the bow is approximately 800mm-900mm long. Wire saws are used for sawing complex curves and making holes.

4. Knife saw: A knife saw consists of a saw blade and a saw handle. It is divided into backed knife saws, single-sided saws, double-sided saws, etc.

5. Frame saw, also called a frame saw, consists of a rope and blade, an I-beam wooden frame, and a saw blade. The two ends of the saw blade are fixed to the frame with knobs, which can be used to adjust the angle of the blade. Once the rope is tightened, the saw blade is taut and ready to use.

6. Jigsaw, also called a circular saw, has the same structure as a frame saw, but the saw blade is narrower (about 10mm). It is mainly used for sawing arcs and curves.

7. Grooving saw, consisting of a saw blade and a handle, with a saw blade approximately 200mm long. Grooving saws are mainly used for grooving wood.
